Odin was originally developed by Samsung for the sole purpose of to be used in the Samsung Care Centers, the one we have got is somehow the leaked version and user is able to flash tar.md5 and .tar extension files. It is pretty simple with basic user-interface making it user-friendly and even a newbie can use it to manually update or fix bricked Galaxy device.
Odin3 and Jodin3 are firmware flashing tool for the Samsung Android devices. Odin3 is compatible with Windows OS while Jodin3 is an alternative tool for Mac OS X and Linux users.
For those of you who are not familiar with Odin3, It is flashing tool for Samsung Galaxy devices in order to flash stock ROMs, kernels and custom recovery (TWRP and ClockworkMod).
You’ll find Odin and Jodin3 is a requirement when it comes to manually updating your Samsung Android device and rooting your Android using the CF-auto root method by the Chainfire XDA.
Odin3 becomes a necessary tool when your Samsung device soft brick or having some errors such as the “Android boot loop issue“, “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue” and so many others.

Thanks to developers, Samsung flashing tool, Jodin3 is now available for Mac and Linux users. You can use the following tools for flashing stock firmware, CF-Root package and other .tar files onto your Samsung device.
Flash Firmware without PC using Mobile Odin Pro
Yes, you heard it right! You can flash the stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, S3, S2, Note 3 and Note 2 without a PC. Now Mac OS X, Linux or Ubuntu users does not have to worry as you can use Mobile ODIN Pro to flash firmware. All you have to do is download the stock firmware, copy to SD card and flash it on your device using the app.
Let me tell you another interesting feature, using the EverRoot option you can gain root access while flashing the ROM saving you time and all is done on the go without having access to PC.
But there are some limitations, It is not free and you need to have root access on your device plus the latest flagship devices including S7 /S7 Edge, S6 /S6 Edge, Note 5 and Note 4 and others are not supported.

Step 3: Select your current device manufacturer or backup data folder.
Step 4: Choose the supported content that you want to transfer, and click the “Transfer” button.
Step 5: All selected content will be transferred immediately.
